The CCCA Modular course is based on EXACTLY the same curriculum as the full-length foundation course, but the content has been broken down into THREE MODULES. The modular approach provides you with a LOWER COST and TIME commitment entry point into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural competence training, whilst keeping you on the same learning pathway as the full course and ensuring the same learning outcomes. Module A is designed to provide you with foundation knowledge about what cultural competence is, the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia, Aboriginal philosophy exploring the Dreaming, cultures and kinship systems, worldviews and connection to land. The course is NATIONALLY REGULATED, COMPETENCY BASED and available ONLINE meaning the course can be completed at work, at home and at a pace suitable for you.
This course has been developed for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and for people living and working anywhere within Australia. Whether you are delivering services specifically to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, or someone working with the general public or you just want to know more about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people you live with, this course is for you.
Module A (in conjunction with modules B and C) has been developed as a first step in a training pathway and as a pre-cursor to face-to-face, local and role specific cultural training. The course is deigned to develop capabilities and build cultural competence whatever your level of knowledge in Aboriginal cultural education.
At an organisational level the competence-based assessments guarantee learning outcomes and provide organisations with transparency in terms of staff cultural capability that enables staff to build and apply knowledge in a practical and structured way.
This course is delivered online and provides a flexible learning platform for organisations and individuals. This is the first module of 3 separate modules that make up the full CCCA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence Course and takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Available 24/7 it allows you to complete the course in your own time at a time and pace convenient to you.
