Home 2026 Courses

CCCA is pleased to announce the launch of our new three-course cultural capability learning pathway for 2026.

Aligned with the Commonwealth Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework, this updated online learning series reflects the framework’s core domains of KNOWINGDOING, and BEING, supporting a progressive development journey:

  • Course 1: Understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures (cultural awareness).
  • Course 2: Delivering Stronger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outcomes (cultural competence).
  • Course 3: Embedding Cultural Safety – Trauma-Informed Leadership and Practice (cultural safety).

These three standalone courses can be delivered individually or as part of a structured learning pathway across all roles and sectors. Each course comes with its own curriculum overview, learner resource pack, certificate, and data reporting dashboard.

CCCA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence Course

We will continue to offer our flagship Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence course as part of the 2026 learning suite. This updated course combines the curriculums of Course 1: Understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures and Course 2: Delivering Stronger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outcomes into a single integrated program.

The course provides a complete learning experience that progresses from foundational awareness through to applied cultural competence. This course now takes approximately 7.5 hours to complete, down from 10-12 hours, and is designed for organisation-wide rollout and can be used as a comprehensive training solution or as an accelerated pathway within the new three-course structure.

Returning Learners
Learners who have completed the earlier version of CCCA’s Cultural Competence course may choose to continue their learning journey through Course 3: Embedding Cultural Safety – Trauma-Informed Leadership and Practice, which builds on this foundation and extends capability into cultural safety and trauma-informed practice.

Industry-Wide Adoption

CCCA’s cultural capability courses are designed for all industries, roles, and sectors across Australia. They are used extensively by organisations across education, health, community services, professional services, corporate, and resource sectors, as well as throughout the not-for-profit and community sectors. This broad adoption reflects the universal importance of building cultural capability in every workplace and community.

Public Sector Relevance

Many government departments currently use the CORE Cultural Learning program as a baseline for staff training. The new CCCA 2026 course suite is designed to serve as the ideal next step in the learning journey after CORE, or as a comprehensive replacement for agencies seeking a deeper, structured alternative aligned to the Commonwealth Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework.

Developed in partnership with the Department of Social Services, this new learning pathway supports a whole-of-government approach to cultural capability by offering measurable outcomes, scalable delivery, and consistent alignment with the framework’s KNOWING, DOING, and BEING domains.

Our modular courses provide the flexibility needed to deliver culturally safe practice training across diverse departments and staff roles, ensuring teams move beyond awareness into practical action, cultural accountability, and lasting change.

What’s Changing: Phasing Out Legacy Courses

The following CCCA courses will be retired at the end of 2025. While existing learners can continue to enrol under active licences, new licence purchases are no longer available. New clients are encouraged to transition to the updated 2026 course suite:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence Course – being replaced with an updated version that combines and refreshes the content into the new flagship CCCA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence Course (as outlined above).

  • Trauma-Informed Cultural Capability Course – being updated and replaced with Course 3: Embedding Cultural Safety – Trauma-Informed Leadership and Practice.

  • Short Course Modules A, B and C – replaced with Course 1: Understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures and Course 2: Delivering Stronger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outcomes of the new series.

See below for information on managing existing training licences.

Existing Training Licences

If you hold active training licences for any of the retiring courses listed above, you may continue to allocate these until their full 12-month expiry date. Once activated, each learner will still have 6 months to complete their training.

You are also welcome to purchase additional licences for modules B and C to enable existing Module A learners to complete their full training. For new learners and future intakes, we recommend beginning the transition to the 2026 courses now. The module A, B and C courses will be replaced by Course 1: Understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures and Course 2: Delivering Stronger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outcomes of the new series.
