This course is designed to help you move beyond awareness and practical skills, towards making cultural capability an integral part of who you are and how you work.
It is aligned to the BEING domain of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework, which focuses on embedding cultural values, safety, and accountability into personal and organisational practice as an ongoing commitment.
It builds on the cultural knowledge developed in the 'Understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures' course and the applied skills from 'Delivering Stronger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outcomes', as well as equivalent cultural awareness and competence programs. It offers valuable insights and strategies for anyone seeking to strengthen their leadership, embed cultural safety, and create meaningful change in their workplace or community.
Focusing on cultural safety, leadership integrity, and trauma-informed practice, the course explores how to integrate cultural capability into your values, behaviours, decision-making, and organisational culture. It equips you to create environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel respected, included, and safe.
By the end of the course, you will be prepared to lead with empathy, foster trust, challenge systemic barriers, and drive long-term change that reflects reconciliation in action.
This course is for anyone who wants to embed cultural capability into their work, decisions, and interactions whether you are in a frontline service delivery role, working directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, or supporting those who do.
It is also highly valuable for people in leadership positions across all sectors, including management, governance, strategy, and policy roles, who are responsible for creating culturally safe environments and driving meaningful organisational change.
While you do not need to have completed the earlier courses in this series to enrol, we recommend undertaking the Understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures course and the Delivering Stronger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outcomes course, or equivalent cultural awareness and competence programs, if you have not already done so. These programs provide the foundational knowledge and practical skills that will give you the context, confidence, and capability to get the most from this course and to drive stronger, more sustainable outcomes in your role.
Whether you work in government, corporate, not-for-profit, or community-based settings, this course will help you lead with integrity, foster trust, deliver culturally safe services, and support reconciliation through long-term, sustainable action.
